Debunking Heresies : Mary Did Know

For those who are not familiar with the christmas song, don’t listen to it, and for those who do listen to it and enjoy it. Please. Stop. I’ll say it right away, that song is very unscriptural and it is pretty heretic. And if it’s sung in your church at Christmas. Yikes!

I will post errors of the song and I will DEBUNK the heresies one after the other. So stay tuned.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you’ve delivered, will soon deliver you [it seriously says that]

Mary was preserved from original sin through the merits of the passion of her Son, before He was even born. She did need to be delivered, however, she was already new at the moment of the annunciation. It’s not when Jesus died that His mother became new. So this right here is a big BIG mistake. I wrote a short article HERE about Mary being freed from original sin.

The last part is simply WRONG. The person who wrote that did not know anything about Isaiah 66:7 “Before she was in labour, she brought forth; before her time came to be delivered, she brought forth a man-child“. The song wrongly infers that Mary is in a state of sin. Big big theological mistake up there. She was not, because God preserved her from sin. Being freed from the pains of child-birth means she did not have original sim. That means Mary was already freed when Jesus was born!

Mary is the most perfect creature, she is the perfection of the created beings. This means that she was also very smart. Imagine Saint Thomas Aquinas, Saint Augustine, Saint Pope John Paul II, Saint Theresa of Avila and more combined into one person. She studied in the temple ever since she was three, and she was learned in the scriptures of the Old Testament. Do you think she would make links like scholars do? Yes, of course she would, and furthermore, her spirit was not obscured by sin, meaning she is the person who was the mots enlightened by God.

In Job 9:8 it says that God “trampled on the sea as on a floor.” Saint Cyril and Saint John Chrysostom both hold that this is a prophecy that is fulfilled through Jesus. So if Mary was attentive to this, she would have known that Jesus would walk on water.

Mary obviously knew that Jesus is the redeemer of the World, that He is the Messiah. She was waiting for the Messiah to come… It’s in the Magnificat : Luke 1 : 46-55.

Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God

She definitely knew those things and accepted them with humility.

Mary did you know, Mary did you know, Mary did you know

She did know, and a lot more than you think, you apostate skeptic. You can stop spreading your heresy.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am

First verse she knew, and the second as well. For the third, seriously, Mary was not naive. She knew very well that her Son would be tortured horribly to save mankind. It’s prophesied in Isaiah 53 pretty clearly that the Messiah would be a perfect lamb, and that He would suffer and be despised. Mary knew those things would happen the her saviour. And yes, Mary knew that Jesus was God.

Mary did you know, Mary did you know, Mary did you know

Stop. Just stop. SHE DID KNOW! So, are you going to listen to that song again? Oh, maybe? If you do, you are so heading for purgatory my friend.
